Eugénio de Andrade...

...is one of my favorite poets ever.
I know several of his poems by heart, and every single one of them has a special meaning for me.

So, one, as an example [it's posted in several languages, after friends telling me that I'm discriminating them. Because it's MY fault I speak five languages. So, no more discrimination]

PORTUGUESE VERSION

O SORRISO
"Creio que foi o sorriso,
sorriso foi quem abriu a porta.
Era um sorriso com muita luz
lá dentro, apetecia
entrar nele, tirar a roupa, ficar
nu dentro daquele sorriso.
Correr, navegar, morrer naquele sorriso."

SPANISH VERSION

LA SONRISA
"Creo que fue la sonrisa,
la sonrisa fue quien abrió la puerta.
Era una sonrisa con mucha luz
dentro, y apetecia
entrar en ella, quitarse la ropa, quedarse
desnudo dentro de aquella sonrisa.
Correr, navergar, morir en aquella sonrisa."

FRENCH VERSION

LE SOURIRE
"Je crois que ce fut le sourire,
le sourire, lui, qui ouvrit la porte.
C'était un sourire avec beaucoup de lumière
à l'ínterieur, il me plaisait
d'y entrer, de me dévêtir, de rester
nu à l'interieur de ce sourire.
Courir, naviguer, mourir dans ce sourire."

ENGLISH VERSION

THE SMILE
I think it was the smile,
it was the smile who opened the door.
It was the smile with light, much light
inside, I longed to
enter it, take off my clothes, and stay,
naked there within that smile.
To run, to sail, to die within that smile."
